Getting Started

What is Color Match?

Color Match is a digital tool that helps you shop with clarity and confidence. It compares clothing colors with your personal palette and shows how well they align with your season, so you can make intentional, informed decisions every time you shop.

Who is Color Match designed for?

Color Match is designed for individuals who already know their color season and want to apply it effortlessly while shopping online.

I don’t know my color season. Can I still use the app?

Color Match works best when your season is already defined.

If you don’t know your season yet, we recommend starting with a professional palette:

  4. The app evaluates it
  5. You instantly see how well it aligns with your palette

Accuracy & Results

Why does a color I know is in my palette show as “Not a Match”?

Even if a color belongs to your palette in theory, the exact version of that color matters.

Online images can vary due to lighting, shadows, fabric texture, and editing by the retailer. Color Match analyzes the exact color in the image, not the intended color name.

For best results, sample three clean, evenly lit points of the same color.

Why do online purchases sometimes look different in real life?

Online colors are often unreliable. Retailers may adjust images for lighting, branding, or presentation, which can make colors appear different from reality. Color Match helps reduce this risk by analyzing the actual color in the image, but results still depend on the quality of the original photo.

Can I rely on the accuracy of Color Match?

Yes. Color Match is built on professional color analysis principles and continuously refined to deliver reliable results when evaluating online product images.

Because the app analyzes colors directly from merchant photos, accuracy depends on the quality of those images.

For best results:

  • use clear, well-lit product images
  • avoid heavily edited or filtered listings
  • sample carefully across the same color

Does Color Match support flow seasons?

Each color season, whether in the 4, 12, or 16 season system, includes a very wide range of shades, with over a thousand variations per season. This naturally covers neighboring or flow seasons within the system. Colors that sit slightly outside your core palette but still work well for you will appear as “Flattering.”

Why does the same item sometimes give different results?

This happens due to variations within the product image itself.

Online product photos often include:

  • lighting differences across the garment
  • shadows and highlights
  • fabric texture and folds
  • color adjustments made by the retailer

Color Match evaluates the exact points you select, so even small variations within the image can affect the outcome.

Why does the app sometimes differ from my pocket palette?

Digital images are affected by lighting, screens, and editing. Even when a color appears identical, these factors can slightly shift how it is interpreted.

Why do some results surprise me?

Color analysis is more precise than it appears. Small differences in warmth, clarity, or depth can change whether a color truly belongs to your palette.

What if the app gives a result I don’t agree with?

This can happen with colors near your palette boundaries.

We recommend:

  • sampling multiple areas
  • checking lighting
  • comparing with your palette

Over time, this helps refine your eye.

Should I trust the app over my own judgment?

Color Match is designed to support your judgment, not replace it.

The best results come from using both together.

How to Use It Properly

How should I choose sampling points?

To ensure accurate results, you will be prompted to sample three areas of the same color within the item.

We recommend:

  • selecting evenly lit areas of the fabric
  • avoiding shadows, highlights, and folds
  • choosing three points that represent the same color across the garment

Sampling multiple points of the same color allows the app to account for variations in lighting and image quality, resulting in a more reliable evaluation.

What is the best way to get accurate results?

  • use clear images
  • avoid filters
  • sample carefully

How should I match patterns or multicolor prints?

Patterns and multicolor prints are more complex than solid colors.

For the best results, place the color picker on the dominant color, or the color that appears most throughout the garment.

The current system is optimized for analyzing multiple sampling points of the same color to reduce inconsistencies and isolate the true tone as accurately as possible.

What do the different color match statuses mean?

Perfect

This is your strongest match. The color is fully aligned with your season’s balance of undertone, depth, softness, and intensity. These are the shades that will naturally enhance your features and give you the most harmonious, effortless look.

Flattering

This color still works well for you and will look good when worn, but it sits slightly outside your season’s ideal range. For example, it may be a bit warmer, cooler, brighter, softer, lighter, or deeper than your very best colors. These are great supportive shades, especially for variety in your wardrobe.

Not recommended

This color falls outside your season’s range and is less likely to complement your natural coloring. It may overpower your features or create imbalance in tone, depth, or intensity.

Our goal is to keep results simple and easy to use, so you can make confident decisions quickly without needing to analyze every detail.
